When visiting Ohio’s Amish Country, Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen is a must-try for authentic, down-home, Amish cooking. It’s true that there are many dining options in Amish county, but the famous fried chicken on Mrs. Yoder’s buffet line is something craved by locals and tourists alike!
Located in Mt. Hope, Ohio, just across from the Mt. Hope Livestock Auction, Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen has been serving the local community for more than 25 years. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner to hungry diners looking for hearty comfort food.
While their buffet line is best known for fried chicken, the delicious home-cooked selections change regularly. You’ll always be able to find Amish favorites such as mashed potatoes, noodles, fresh vegetables, and a salad bar at Mrs. Yoder’s. All of their produce is sourced locally and seasonally when possible. The buffet and salad bar are open for lunch and dinner every day, so you have plenty of chances to fill up on hearty hometown favorites.
Mt. Hope is home to many local Amish communities and is a popular tourist destination for many. You’ll certainly want to make a stop to visit local dining establishments, shopping experiences, and Amish-made furniture shops nearby. Within a short drive are other local destinations of Sugarcreek, Walnut Creek, and Berlin, which also offer a variety of shopping and dining options for travelers!
Food is a large part of Amish culture, and that’s something that is showcased at Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen. Amish families typically eat a large meal together every day. The Amish are very generous and hospitable, so making a large meal for guests is common practice. You’ll be hard-pressed to find an Amish event that doesn’t revolve around food. Reunions, funerals, weddings, and even auctions will have a full meal, or sometimes several on the schedule.
Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen is open Monday through Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Be sure to stop by on your next visit!
