Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed and Breakfast in Ohio's Amish Country

Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast owners Herb & Carol Steffey are celebrating the anniversary of purchasing their Amish Country Inn. It was built in 1996 by the Steiner family and the Steffey family purchased it 11 years ago. In the 11 years that Herb & Carol have owned the Inn they turned it from an Inn to a bed and breakfast, they remodeled rooms, and built cottages on the same property. Over this period of time the bed and breakfast has earned awards such as being named 1 of the Top 10 B&B’s in the USA; 1 of the Top 10 B&B’s in the Midwest, and received the first award from Ohio Hotel & Lodging for Ohio Bed & Breakfast of the Year. While guests who have stayed at the Inn have mentioned things like the comfortable beds, exquisite sheets, delicious, home-cooked breakfasts, etc., what they mention the most is the hospitality. They say things like, “Herb & Carol make Garden Gate Get-A-Way what it is and that is why we continually return.” Carol Steffey was not surprised by such comments and said, “We want every guest that walks through our door to really experience the area. For some that means Amish culture. For others it means visiting wineries or golfing, etc. We do our best to help guests plan itineraries to make their experience a personal one”. They genuinely care that guests are comfortable in their rooms and have several amenities to enhance their stay. These bed and breakfast owners have taken hospitality to a whole new level. A couple of years ago they purchased a tour bus and offer several tours exclusively to their guests for an additional charge. Guests may choose from Amish Culture Tours, Wine Tasting Weekends, Sunday Sunset Tours, and tours that visit the major tourist attractions in the area. In addition to bus tours

they offer specialty weekends like murder mystery packages and dinners with authors. They also work with massage therapists who will come right to the bed and breakfast and deliver services on site. When asked, ‘What is the one thing you wish people that have never stayed at your inn knew about it’ this is what Carol replied, “Most people get on the Internet and search for a ‘hotel’ when they travel because the thought never occurred to them to search for anything else. I wish that they would search ‘lodging.’ When they compare what they get at a hotel vs. what they can get if they stay at our bed and breakfast then I am sure that we have a waiting list to stay here.” If you would like more information about Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast you may visit their website at www.garden-gate.com or give them a call at 330-674-7608.
